Our Story
Our founder, Christina Dokter is a Korean American whose parents and grandparents were deeply affected by the Korean War. Growing up, Christina heard harrowing stories of escape from North to South Korea--the hunger, the fear, and the anxieties.
Affected by such stories, Christina grew up thinking about war and how to stop conflict. She majored in political science to see if there was any way to stop violent wars. She learned that power politics ruled the world, and that there will always be wars somewhere in the world.
So, she married and studied educational technology to help raise her children.
When online learning became popular, she learned from Tech Utopians that education will create an even playing field for developing countries. So Christina decided to get a Ph.D. in distance learning. However, the digital divide slowed that idea.
Finally, she was reading about manna in the Bible and asked whether science could not also make such miracle foods for people caught up in war.
Thus, Wisdom Science Collaborative was born.
