The Challenge

Traditional humanitarian food systems depend on supply chains.

Food has to be produced, transported, stored, protected and distributed.  War can interrupt every step.  

We asked: What if some food and water systems could travel with people instead?
Food that is portable and regenerates so that people never run out of nourishment!!!

Future Foods

Radical food technologies such as air fermentation, precision fermentation, and cellular agriculture are transforming how we think about feeding a growing world. They can produce nutritious foods with less land, water, and dependence on traditional agriculture. Yet most of these innovations are being developed for conventional food systems—where energy, equipment, infrastructure, and distribution remain available. WSC asks a different question: How can we transform these and future breakthroughs into food systems that could sustain people stranded by war, displacement, or food blockades, when the conventional systems they depend upon are gone?  How can such radical technologies become portable and regenerative so people never run out of food even if there is a food blockade?
